K-Shock – This is a brightly colored shoot-em-up game where players man a spaceship and blast away at obstacles and enemies in old fashioned arcade style. Players have the option of playing either in first or third person.

iphone gameRoaring Racers ($.99) – This game should never be played in public, as it requires the player’s voice to power the race car. It’s almost as bad as the Nintendo DS games that force players to blow or yell into the microphone.

MucknAround ($2.99) – The developer offers no insight as to what this game is about. The App Store has a cute little quip about playing this game in class, and the developer’s website does not even mention the game. From the screen shots, it looks like a board game based on colored tiles, but there’s no real clue about what to do with them. Word of advice to iphone game devs: when charging $2.99 for a game, please advise as to what the game is about at the very least.

Whack a Bear – For those wondering if HandStorm, Inc. would come out with additional Whack a College Football Team games from the ones released on August 19th, wonder no more. There is now Whack a Bear, Bearcat, Beaver, Blue Devil, Boilermaker, Bronco, Bruin, Buckeye, Buffalo, Bull, Bulldog, Aggie, Aztec, Tar Hell, and Trojan for college football fans who just really hate their rivals. Or maybe they just like whacking things.

Carnival Balloon Race – This is a simulation of the carnival game where contestants fire a water gun at a target to move their balloons down a track. To move the balloon in this electronic form, players must hold down on a target button to fire the water gun and then tilt the iPhone to aim the stream from the water gun. It’s probably best not to play this while on a DART rail commute or people will give you strange looks. The full version costs $.99 and a demo or lite version is free to try.

Brainy Smarty Party ($2.99) – This collection of 15 mini-games is dedicated to exercise players’ brains in terms of reaction time, memory, counting, logic and math. Once all the games are complete, a Sudoku game will be unlocked.

Apple iOS 5 was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in early June 2011. When released, it will be supported on the iPad, iPod, iPhone 3GS, 4 and 5. After watching the official video posted on YouTube and gathering all the information I could, I have decided to publish this article explaining the enhancements of iOS 5 as of when it becomes available to the public.

Gustav of the Baltic Sea ($.99) – Players must help Gustave survive his daily life in the sea by helping him avoid jellyfish and evil monster fish while collecting air bubbles to breathe. The graphics are very adorable and seem to be geared toward young children.
