Barutiwa News Online was founded in 1999 by Baruti Cara Hidup Sehat M. Kamau. It evolved from Barutiwa Newspaper published from 1992 to 1999 in Cincinnati, Ohio – which was Mr. Kamau’s first project in citizen journalism. Barutiwa News Online via website champions a news site, forums, free web pages and an archive of original content produced in the 1990’s. There is also an affiliate and writer’s program where user-generated content is awarded with cash and/or bitcoins.
